【摘要】:1.1Weigh-In-Motion8212;ThisspecificationdescribesWeigh-In-Motion(WIM),theprocessofmeasuringthedynamictireforcesofamovingvehicleandestimatingthecorrespondingtireloadsofthestaticvehicle.Gross-vehicleweightofahighwayvehicleisdueonlytothelocalforceofgravityactinguponthecompositemassofallconnectedvehiclecomponents,andisdistributedamongthetiresofthevehiclethroughconnectorssuchassprings,motiondampers,andhinges.HighwayWIMsystemsarecapableofestimatingthegrossweightofavehicleaswellastheportionofthisweight,calledloadinthisspecification,thatiscarriedbythetiresofeachwheelassembly,axle,andaxlegrouponthevehicle.1.2OtherTrafficData8212;Ancillarytrafficdataconcerningthespeed,laneofoperation,dateandtimeofpassage,numberandspacingofaxles,andclassification(accordingtoaxlearrangement)ofeachvehiclethatisweighedinmotionisdesiredforcertainpurposes.ItisfeasibleforaWIMsystemtomeasureorcalculatethesetrafficparametersandtoprocess,summarize,store,display,record,hard-copy,andtransmittheresultingdata.Furthermore,differencesinmeasuredorcalculatedparametersascomparedwithselectedcontrolcriteriacanbedetectedandindicatedtoaidenforcement.Inadditiontotire-loadinformation,aWIMsystemiscapableofproducingall,orspecifiedportionsof,thesetrafficdata.1.3StandardSpecification8212;HighwayWIMsystemsgenerallyhavethreeapplications:collectingstatisticaltrafficdata,aidingenforcement,andenforcement.ThisspecificationclassifiesfourtypesofWIMsystemsaccordingtotheirapplicationanddetailstheirrespectivefunctional,performance,anduserrequirements.Itisaperformance-type(endproduct-type)specification.ExceptionsandoptionstothespecificationmaybeincludedinanyspecificationpreparedbytheuseraspartoftheprocurementprocessforWIMequipmentorservices,andvendorsmayofferexceptionsandoptionsinrespondingtoaninvitationtobid.1.4Units8212;Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitswhichareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.5Thefollowingprecautionarycaveatappliesonlytothetestmethodportion,Section7,ofthisspecification.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
