【摘要】:Themechanicalperformanceofweldedthermoplasticstructuresislargelydependentonthequalityoftheweldingoperation.Fabricatorsshoulddeterminethattheproperweldingproceduresarebeingfollowedandthatweldersmaintaintheirproficiency.Resultsfromthispracticeareindicativeofskillinproperweldingproceduresfordifferentthermoplasticmaterialsandtheuseofappropriateweldingequipment.Iftheweldedtestspecimenshaveshorttermweldfactorsthatmeetorexceedtheminimumsassetforthinthispractice,orasagreedtobysupplieranduser,itmaybeconcludedthat,withthesamedegreeofskillanddiligencebythewelder,acceptableweldsshouldbeobtainedinfabricatedstructures.1.1Thispracticecoversthepreparationandevaluationofjointsbetweentwopiecesofweldablegradesofthermoplasticmaterials,backedandunbacked,(suchasthoseshownin)upto2in.(50mm)inthickness.1.2Sincetherearenumerousnewtechnologiesandtechniquesconstantlybeingdevelopedforplasticwelding,therearenoprofilesandproceduresthatcanbeconsideredasstandardforallplasticsatvariousthicknesses.Thispracticeisnotintendedtodefineprofilesandprocedures;however,itisintendedtoestablishmethodstoevaluateminimumshorttermweldfactorstobeachievedbythewelderfortherespectiveplastics.1.3Weldproceduresusedfortestpiecesshouldreflectprocedurestobeusedinactualfabrication.1.4Weldingmethodstobeusedcouldincludemachinewelding,extrusionwelding,andhotgaswelding.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.
